This tunnel in Portsmouth plays host to a multitude of hauntings, including a lady in white, a headless woman on a white horse, a worker that was reportedly killed during the construction and immortalized in the concrete, and a dark figure that looms near the railroad tracks. Activity in this area includes strong gusts of wind, voices pleading for help, and a witness that fired his pistol at the headless woman on horseback, finding later that the gun had been broken beyond repair. Legend states that the witness' brother was killed a few days later when a grape vine on which he was swinging snapped.
